Brazilian Vibes in Waltershausen:
A Summer Tale of Superlatives!
Waltershausen transformed into a hub of international karate sport as the 6th Champions Camp, organized by the experts Noah Bitsch and Christian Grüner, opened its doors under the inspiring motto »Train with the best! - Become the best!« An event like no other, it drew athletes from all over the world to the small town in Thuringia for five days filled with sweat, discipline, and above all, Brazilian joy for life.
A Touch of Brazil in Germany
This year's Champions Camp attracted participants from 17 nations, including exotic countries like Ecuador, Brazil, and Zimbabwe, as well as European karate strongholds like Spain, Italy, and France. Nearly 200 karatekas aged 10 to 50 took part and were divided into four training groups: U12, U16 female, U16 male, and Over 16. Each group went through eight intensive training sessions, led by a stellar lineup of coaches.
Top-Class Trainers
In addition to the hosts Noah Bitsch and Christian Grüner, themselves renowned athletes and coaches, the Brazilian superstar Douglas Brose was the highlight of the camp. Brose, a three-time world champion and winner of the World Games and Pan American Games, brought a touch of Copacabana to Waltershausen. The coaching team was also supported by Florian Haas, the brand ambassador, who shared his expertise with the participants.
The Elite of Karate Assembled
But it wasn't just the coaches who were world-class; the participant list read like a who's who of international karate. Mia Bitsch, a two-time reigning European champion in the -55kg category and a member of the GER Team PUNOK, was present along with Johanna Kneer, the current two-time European heavyweight champion. Other notable figures such as Shara Hubrich, vice-world champion and European champion in the -50kg category, and Sydney Yvon, the reigning European U18 champion in the -59kg category from France, enriched the camp with their skills and experience.
A Festival of Prizes
Thanks to the generous support of sponsors CENTURY Martial Arts and PUNOK, the camp became not only a sporting highlight but also an entertaining event. A special treat was the raffle, where two fully loaded backpacks were given away, containing the latest Takyon uniform, protectors, the new compression series, mouthguards, T-shirts, and many other great items. The lucky winners, Haley and Cesar, could hardly believe their luck and accepted their prizes with bright eyes and broad smiles.
An Atmosphere Like Copacabana
The atmosphere at the camp was simply incredible. The weather was perfect, creating a summery ambiance that made the intense training sessions a true pleasure. Participants not only learned new techniques and training methods but also made valuable connections with other top athletes.
Noah Bitsch summed it up: »We are just incredibly proud of this camp and what we have created here over the last six years. Our goal has always been to create a training camp for the best athletes from around the world. The fact that it is so well received is just indescribably beautiful. One gets new input for their own training and has the opportunity to train with other top athletes here.«
An Unforgettable Success
Christian Grüner added: »We are of course very grateful to have such a committed sponsor like CENTURY Martial Arts. It makes planning such a large event a lot easier.« Thanks to the support of the sponsors and the tireless efforts of the organizers, the Champions Camp became an unforgettable event that inspired and excited all participants.
Overall, the Champions Camp was an overwhelming success and a truly international event that made Waltershausen the center of the karate world for five days. The Brazilian vibes brought by Douglas Brose and the cheerful, dedicated atmosphere of the camp made these days an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
With anticipation, everyone is already looking forward to next year, when it will again be:
»Train with the best! - Become the best!« in Waltershausen.
