The WKF Karate 1 Premier League tournament in Casablanca, Morocco, provided an impressive conclusion to the competition year. The athletes from Team PUNOK did outstandingly well in the various weight classes and showed some remarkable performances.

Mia Bitsch in the -55kg weight category started strongly and triumphed against both Egypt and Japan. Particularly pleasing was her victory against the Japanese, against whom she had lost in Paris in January.

Unfortunately, she was beaten by the Italian in the quarter-finals and finished in seventh place.

Florian Haas (-60kg) was unfortunately unable to prevail in his pool. He faced Stefanos for the third time this year, and this time the fight ended 10:7 in Stefanos' favor.

Stefanos Xenos (-60kg) showed strong performances and won his pool with victories against Sweden, Germany and Italy. Despite his good form, he lost in the quarter-finals and also finished in 7th place.

Fatima Zahrae (-61kg) impressed by winning her pool. However, she was also defeated in the quarter-finals and finished in 7th place.

Said Oubaya (-67kg), the local hero, had the chance to use his home advantage in a thrilling fight against Belgium. Unfortunately, he was narrowly defeated and was eliminated from the tournament. Nevertheless, he secured the title of Grand Winner 2024.

Abdalla Abdelaziz (-75kg) was the shining hero of the tournament. He showed outstanding performances throughout and was the only one of our athletes to win gold. With this victory, he also secured the title of Grand Winner 2024, having won all four Premier League tournaments.

Youssef Badawy (-84kg) fought his way through to the semi-finals, where he was defeated by a Ukrainian. In the fight for third place, he made a fatal mistake at 2:2, which cost him the victory. Nevertheless, he also became Grand Winner 2024.

Taha Mahmoud (+84kg) put in a strong performance and fought his way through to the final. There he was also defeated by a Ukrainian, but second place was enough for him to also win the title of Grand Winner 2024.

Even though there were only two medals in total this time, all of our athletes delivered their best performances at the last tournament of the year. As Team PUNOK, we can be particularly proud to have four Grand Winners in our ranks. The atmosphere in the traditionally decorated hall was great and contributed to an unforgettable tournament experience. The top 32 in the world in 10 kumite weight classes and the top 32 women and men in kata took part. We thank all the athletes for their outstanding performances and look forward to a successful new year!
